OH Baby!

Fred and I just found out this week that we are five weeks pregnant, We are so excited! I waited until I knew for sure that I was pregnant to tell Fred and it was the hardest wait ever. I made him a card from his baby to announce the addition to the family. He was in shock, and of course many tears came after that :) (From Fred, NOT me!! Even though I'm pregnant I still can't make myself cry when I'm this excited!) My body has already undergone so many changes (My belly is growing so fast!) and morning sickness is hitting me head on. Insomnia, bloating and tender breasts are driving me insane! In the midst of all these changes, we are both so excited and praying for a healthy and safe pregnancy. If we have a little boy we plan on naming him Liam Teagan Jackson which means Pure Little Poet...We still haven't agreed on a girl name yet. Half the girl names i picked out Fred couldn't even pronounce, Haha. I was dead set on Eowyn but it turns out Fred can't say it correctly...so its a no go. Maybe Paris? Anyways, we will continue to post updates on baby Jackson. Please pray with us for a safe pregnancy and happy baby! Thanks :)

Love STUCK! Stuck inside on valentines day? Try these!

I have been looking forward to this holiday since new years day! I love all holidays and I always make a big deal about them, loving the chance for a fun celebration or party. Since a lot of my friends are snowed in, I have listed some date ideas that you can do at home since going out may not be an option.

1. Have a snow ball! Bundle up and go out and have a snowball fight, make snow angels, and build a frosty the snow man. Be sure to take lots of pictures, drink hot coco and eat some warm pastries when your done.

2.Set up for a romantic indoor picnic. Put a blanket on the floor and prepare a special meal. Turn on some lovely tunes, candles, and settle in for a romantic night. (Don't forget to dress your best and don't rule out dancing)

3. Go out for desserts. The melting pot has delicious options and can be a romantic place, just don't forget to make reservations and dress up! Or if going out is not possible, make special desserts together.

4. For all you game lovers, have a game night with popcorn! Play all of your favorite board games and card games, have fun with it.

5. Have you and you lover each make a list of the top ten things you love about the other person. Share this list over a romantic dinner and see where the night takes you ;) Maybe throw in a bubble bath at the end? OR if you both are artistic, try to draw what you love about the other and have the person guess what it is!

Most importantly, have fun and do it while looking gorgeous :)

Resiliency

Last week was a very hard week for me. When going through an especially difficult time I had someone ask me, How are you being so calm right now? As I held back my tears, I said it was because I am a yogi and that I had just practiced deep breathing. This is partially true but the other half of the truth is that I had asked my angels to surround me and give me comfort.
Sunday, Fred got his test results back and he is positive with TB (Tuberculosis). As I watched him cry, I had to hold back my own tears once again and ask the angels to surround both of us with healing wings. Fred will have to go for further testing but this also means that he will most likely not be able to get into the nursing program he was hoping to get into. For those of you not familiar with TB, it is a very serious infection that infects the lungs and other internal organs. We are hoping the virus is inactive meaning it will not harm him but he will still have to undergo drug treatments to kill off the infection. If, however the disease is active, it is very dangerous and often times, lethal. Treatment would include drug therapy and the use of steriods for a long period of time with still no gauranteed success.
Through it all, we will remain positive and optimistic! I am constantly being reminded that when one door closes, a new, even better door opens up. I have learned that the best approach to life is not to sit doing nothing but feeling sorry for yourself but to accept and move on, remembering that nothing is permanent (a key buddhist principle) The best is here now, we just must learn to see it :)

Winter Makeup Luxe

I'm all for the splurge, But I also am all for the savings. I believe it's better to have a few good quality essentials in your makeup kit than to have a lot of cheap makeup that simply doesn't get the job done. So this is my list of my top ten winter makeup must haves.

1. Good Lotion that is full of moisture and has SPF (cetaphil)
2 Primer that also moisturizes (IMAN)
3.Concealer/highlighter kit. (Amazon...four bucks baby$$)
4.Chapstick (Burts beeswax, only kind I'll use)
5.Vibrant lipstick in Red or wine (Wet n Wild or Avon)
6.Gel eye liner in black (Works wonders on top and bottom, Maybelline or Sephora)
7.Eye lash Primer and Mascara (both from Avon)
8. Mousse foundation (If your over 40 or prone to dry skin use a liquid, Avon)
9.Lip shine to go over those vibrant red lips for a night out (anywhere)
10. Good brushes ( a good set of brushes works wonders)

You dont have to spend loads of money to look totally fab, Remember that ;)

Beat the Blues

This is our snowman, Sylvester. Fred had never made a snowman before or a snow angel so we had to introduce him to all the fun. But the fun only lasts so long...Once the snow all turns to ice, it turns to disaster. No power, Ice on the roads, and of course, the winter blues. It seems everyone is itching for spring! So whether your living under a white blanket or just miss the warm rays of sun, here's a few tips for beating those winter blues:
1. Take a Yoga Class. Yeah yeah I know what your thinking, I'm a yoga teacher, of course I'm going to recommend that. But seriously, being active really does help! Plus its relaxing and gives you the chance to clear your head.
2. Liven up your wardrobe. Stop wearing black and grey all the time and try using a pop of color.
3.Pick up a new hobby. Winter is a great time to pick a new interest and really do your research whether that be online or by taking a new class. You can always teach yourself a new skill with the web and books (hello, now you can finally use that kindle!!)
4.Volunteer at a shelter. Whether its abandoned animals, battered women or homeless people, The winter is a great time to help the less fortunate. Most places, it's cold out and they need some extra TLC just like we all do!
5. Try a new makeup trend. The winter is the best time to vamp up your look and use wild colors, let your imagination run wild~~
6. Check out new blogs. (Hello? Luxebylix ;)) Follow new blogs and who knows, maybe you'll get so inspired you'll want to start your own.
Hope you can incorporate at least one of these ideas into your day and make it a happy day!
Thanks for reading!

Winter Wonderland

Today is yet another snow day here in Philadelphia. Everyone was sent home from work early and I'm enjoying the afternoon in my rabbit fur vest and warm socks. I plan on taking some more pictures once the snow lets up but right now its really coming down! (I don't want Gladys to get wet, Gladys is my camera) Brrrr....
